Node isolation and security

How renters are isolated from each other and how your files are kept safe.

Each rental is isolated: the next renter cannot access your data, and you cannot access theirs.

Access rotation

Between rentals, the node goes through maintenance with password rotation for remote access. As a result, the previous renter’s connection details stop working, and no outsider can connect to your active session.

Your files

Each user has their own folder on the farm’s storage. It syncs with Google Drive: access is granted to your Gmail (you are asked for it on your first sign-in), and the folder appears in your Drive.

Inside, there is a folder for each project: your nick / Projects / project. You can create it ahead of time in your Google Drive (named exactly like the project) and put your scene there before you rent, and the folder appears on the farm. Otherwise, it is created with your first rental. The rented node sees it as B:\your nick\Projects\project. Put your scene into this folder through Google Drive, and save render output to it too: only this folder syncs back to your Drive. The path and the Drive link are on the session screen, in the Your files block.

The node’s local disk is temporary. Nodes are reinstalled or serviced between sessions, so don’t keep important files only on the node’s local disk.

Project folders

There is no shared folder for the whole team. Each project member has their own folder for that project, member’s nick / Projects / project, and a node rented by a member sees only that folder. The node does not see anyone else’s folders, whether they belong to other members or other renters. If your team needs the same files, share them through Google Drive.

What this gives you

  • Your files are not visible to other renters.
  • No one else can connect to your session.
  • After you, the node is cleaned before the next rental.
